Prebiotics and Probiotics - help your staff and clients
know the difference and how they work together

Prebiotics

Prebiotics are naturally occurring fibers that are resistant to intestinal enzymatic digestion, but are fermented by intestinal bacteria of the dog and cat. The principle effect of prebiotics in the diet is to promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract - enhancing digestive health and promote strong defenses.

FOS (Fructooligosaccharide), is a prebiotic selectively utilized as energy by certain beneficial bacterial species in the gastrointestinal tract, including Bifidobacterium species. FOS increases the presence of beneficial bacteria while decreasing undesirable bacteria.

Probiotics

Probiotics are live, beneficial bacteria. The range and depth of benefits of a probiotic can be species-specific and/or strain-specific. Probiotics have been clinically proven to restore the balance of beneficial and harmful bacteria, improve digestive function, and aid in the relief of diarrhea.

Prostora™ Max is a unique probiotic supplement that has been clinically proven to nutritionally aid in the resolution of canine diarrhea. In fact, a clinical study shows dogs whose diets were supplemented with Prostora™ Max experienced resolution of their diarrhea 2.5 days faster than placebo.1
